01 The Pass
Live in Malaysia for 5 to 20 Years, Renewable
One approval replaces the visa-run cycle: a residency pass measured in decades, not days.
Long Term Residency Pass in Malaysia
You can enter, stay and live in West Malaysia (not including Sabah and Sarawak) with a long term residency pass (range from 5, 10, 15 and 20 years, depending on your category), without the need to exit and reenter Malaysia after 30 days or 90 days max stay per visit in a Social Visit Pass.

One Pass Covers Three Generations
Your children come with you - and so do your parents and parents-in-law. A move that does not split the family.
Bring in parents and parents-in-law as dependents
You can bring in your parents and parents-in-law as your MM2H dependents, meaning you can apply for long term residency identity for “3-generations of your family”, including your children and their grandparents.

Your Money Comes In Tax-Free
Funds you bring into Malaysia are yours to keep - remittance is tax-exempt, and local banking is open to you.
Tax Exemption of Foreign Remittances into Malaysia
Foreign remittance by the MM2H participants into their Malaysia bank accounts are tax exempt by the Inland Revenue Department (LHDN) of Malaysia.
Permission To Open Multiple Bank Accounts In Malaysia Banks
With an MM2H Pass/Visa, you can open multiple bank accounts in any local or international commercial banks operating in Malaysia, for the purpose of saving and investments.

Freedom to stay/live in any states or federal territory within West Malaysia
You are free to choose where to stay or live in any States or Federal Territory within West Malaysia (excluding Sabah and Sarawak in East Malaysia). You can also change your living location anytime you wish. No prior approval from the respective State authority is required.
Permission to Study in Malaysia for your children
With MM2H Dependent Pass, your children (below 18 years old) can enroll at any international schools or private schools in Malaysia anytime, without hassle of applying for a separate short term Student Pass. Having a MM2H Pass is also a prerequisite of enrollment into top-ranking or first-tier international schools in Malaysia.
Access to Affordable Best-in-Class International Education and Healthcare Facilities
You can access the affordable best-in-class English-based international schools (IG and IB curriculum) for children’s education needs and healthcare facilities for your family, especially elderly parents.
Ease Of Travel In Pan-Asia Region Within 4-6 Hours Flight Zone
Malaysia is situated in the center and the most strategic location in the Pan-Asia region with ease of travel within 4 to 6 hours flight time to countries in East Asia, Middle East, South Asia and ASEAN. Retirement
Retiring in Malaysia
MM2H is the route most retirees take, and the programme treats applicants aged 50 and above differently in one decisive way.
No minimum stay once you are 50 or above
Applicants aged 25 to 49 must be in Malaysia 90 days a year, cumulatively. From 50 that requirement falls away in every category - you keep the pass whether you spend the year here or split it with your home country.
Your parents can come with you
Parents and parents-in-law qualify as dependents, so a retiring couple can bring the generation above them rather than leaving them behind.
Healthcare and schooling are already in place
English-language private healthcare and international schools are established across Peninsular Malaysia, which is what makes a multi-generation move practical rather than theoretical.
A home you own, not a lease
Every category requires you to buy a residence, so retirement here starts from ownership. The minimum price is set by your category and by the state's policy on foreign purchase.
The Honest Version
What the Pass Allows, and What It Does Not
Every line below is drawn from the published MM2H criteria. Knowing the limits before you apply is what keeps an application from failing late.
Live in Peninsular Malaysia, in any state
No prior approval from the State authority, and you may change location any time.
Bring your spouse, children, parents and parents-in-law
Children below 21; those aged 21 to 34 must be unemployed and single while in Malaysia.
Enrol children in international or private schools
The MM2H Dependent Pass replaces a separate short-term Student Pass.
Open multiple Malaysian bank accounts, tax-free remittance
No tax on foreign funds/income or on profit from fixed deposits in Malaysia.
Work or run a business - Platinum only
Business, investment activities and employment in Malaysia are permitted for the Platinum principal only. Gold, Silver and SEZ/SFZ do not allow them.
East Malaysia is not covered
The pass covers West Malaysia; it does not include Sabah and Sarawak.
A foreign maid - Platinum only
Allowed for Platinum (female, below 45 years old); not allowed under the other three categories.
Selling your residence within 10 years
Compulsory residence purchase applies to every category, and it cannot be sold for 10 years. It may be upgraded to a higher-value property.
